CollegeAmerica Celebrates 2013 Graduates in Fort Collins, Colo
Students Commemorate Education Victories With Families and Supporters
Fort Collins, Colo (June 06, 2013) — CollegeAmerica, a leading provider of on-campus and online higher education, celebrated the achievements of 76 graduates from its Fort Collins campus last week, including Jessica Olivera Reyes, the first student at the Fort Collins campus to earn a GED through the Good Neighbor Initiative and to graduate from CollegeAmerica, earning an Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Medical Specialties.
Degrees earned during the graduation ceremonies included 51 recipients of an associate degree and 25 Bachelor of Science recipients. 29 students are graduating with cum laude, magna cum laude and summa cum laude honors, and 12 students belong to the Alpha Beta Kappa national honor society.
“We are very proud of our graduating class,” said campus director Joel Scimeca. “For many of our students, it’s been a long journey as they’ve balanced families, jobs and other priorities. And while CollegeAmerica removes some of those obstacles, the credit truly goes to these remarkable individuals who are motivated and ready to make a difference in their lives.”
Jessica Olivera Reyes, a graduate with an Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Medical Specialties, earned her GED through the Good Neighbor Initiative at the CollegeAmerica Fort Collins campus before applying for admission at CollegeAmerica.
“The Good Neighbor Initiative refreshed my memory of subjects I had not studied in 13 years. I was able to take the entire GED in three weeks and CollegeAmerica paid for all of it,” Reyes said. “My teachers at CollegeAmerica were supportive, encouraging, and gave me the tools I needed to succeed in the medical field.”
CollegeAmerica offers degrees in business, IT, healthcare and graphic arts. The Fort Collins campus also offers free classes and workshops to the community through CollegeAmerica’s Good Neighbor Initiative, including free GED test preparation, nurse assisting and job workshops.
