"Employment of medical and health service managers is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012, as the health services industry continues to expand and diversify."
— US Department of Labor
With the tremendous growth in the health care industry, especially with an aging "Baby Boomer" population nearing retirement, health care administrators are in great demand. In fact, medical and health service managers are listed as one of the occupations with the most openings on America's Career Infonet, with estimated 11,880 new openings annually related to growth in the industry. Nearly 30% of all first-line managers, supervisors and administrative support workers will have a Bachelor's degree or more. The skills needed for success as an administrator include knowledge of business and management, practices involved in strategic planning, recourse management, leadership skills, and other office procedures and medical terminology. According to the US Department of Labor, graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Health Administration usually begin as Administrative Assistants or Assistant Department heads in larger hospitals. They may also become assistant Administrators.

The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration program is designed to provide health care practitioners with the competencies to function as supervisors and managers in health care settings. The curriculum provides a working foundation in management and interpersonal skills, while at the same time introducing the student to the health care delivery system and its many and varied issues and challenges. Graduates are not only better prepared to assume increased management responsibilities, but to do so with a better understanding of the complex system in which they work. Students are prepared to work in entry-level management and accounting positions in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
