A Few Good Reasons to Join Your Alumni Association

By Staff Writer Published on September 17, 2012

In the final weeks of your college experience, the top things on your mind are probably finishing your last assignments and exams, preparing for certification testing, completing your petition to graduate, and beginning your career search. Something else you may want to keep in mind: the benefits you receive when you take the time to sign up for your Alumni Association. Here are a few good reasons to stay in touch with your alma mater:

  • You will receive continuous updates and information about campus happenings, annual certification testing dates, refresher labs and courses available for auditing, and new degree programs that may be added in the future.
  • You will be presented with networking opportunities such as career fairs and seminars that feature guest speakers and presentations relevant to your career or career search.
  • You will have opportunities to reconnect with your classmates through alumni luncheons and dinners.
  • You will stay connected to your Career Services Department, which can assist you continuously with career development. We offer services such as resume updates and interviewing skills brush-ups, plus information on current hiring trends and career and internship opportunities.

Other benefits that you may receive are alumni newsletters and directories, invitations to additional campus affairs such as holiday events or fundraisers, and scholarship opportunities for continuing education. To join your association, contact the Student Services or Career Services Department at your campus for more information.
