CollegeAmerica’s Fort Collins Campus Named New GED Testing Center

Fort Collins, Colo (December 11, 2012) — CollegeAmerica, a leading provider of on-campus and online higher education, has announced its Fort Collins campus has become an official GED testing site for northern Colorado. Located at 4601 South Mason Street in Fort Collins, the new testing site opened for GED test-takers last month. The campus is the first CollegeAmerica campus to be certified as a GED testing site.

“This is a natural fit four our campus considering the number of students who go through our free GED test preparation course,” said Joel Scimeca, Fort Collins campus director. “The majority of our students work and can’t always make it to normal testing center hours. This helps remove an additional barrier for them and other members of the community.”

The campus’s free GED test preparation, which is independent of the testing center, has seen 230 students go through the course since January and go on to pass their GED exam. In addition to classes and one-on-one tutoring, the campus covers the costs of course materials, practice exams, and pays for its students to take the actual GED exam.

The current GED exam is set to expire at the end of 2013 as GED Testing Service® phases out paper-based GED tests and introduces its new computer-based GED exam in 2014. Students must complete the current GED version by December 2013 or they will need to start over again as all current subtest scores will not carry over into 2014.

The testing center is also a licensed Pearson VUE testing center and offers testing services for a number of national and state licensure exams, including national board certification tests for physicians and dentists, the Colorado insurance license exam and others.
